It takes one full cycle to experience your new role, and a second full cycle to figure out how to be intentional. In the meantime you still need to be great. Oh and you’re probably under evaluation, too – whether formal evaluation by those who hired you, or the make it or break it evaluation by those you lead.
Leadership transition is about finding new approaches to use your intellect, your experience, and your training to do things you don’t know how to do, haven’t experienced before, and weren’t trained for. New ways of working will be required of you. You can’t get by with what you’ve done before.
